Living with Integrity and Honesty

“Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people.”

 -Spencer Johnson

Happy New Year!

As I reflect back on 2010 I noticed a lack of integrity and honesty within people.  It made me think of how I was leading my life.  I have come to realize that I wasn't attracting people with integrity and honesty because I didn't have integrity and honesty.  Wow!  I can't believe I just admitted that.  Typing this made me realize the amount of times I wasn't honest with myself about the people and situations I chose to have in my life.  They weren't really giving me what I wanted and I kept them around anyway.  I wasn't allowing myself to see the truth about them because I didn't want to feel lonely.  I should have been honest with them and let them go from my life sooner.

Integrity and honesty are not the easiest things to practice in life...I realize that now.  It is crucial to try and practice it.  Living a life with integrity and honesty means coming from love.  You don't have to be rude to be honest.  I have learned that it is important to sit with yourself and think about difficult situations before reacting to them.  When I don't do this I say things the wrong way or regret decisions I have made.  When things come up in my life that are difficult to deal with I allow myself time to decide what I want to say or do.  When I give myself the time the words and decisions come from love, it is a win-win.  When you are honest from love you acknowledge the other person and how they are feeling as well as yourself.

Always be true to yourself and honest with others.  If you don't feel right about a situation or a person in your life, have integrity and be true to yourself.  It also important to be honest with that person or about the situation.  Don't run away from someone or something because you don't want to be honest with them and/or hurt their feelings; being dishonest and your silence will only hurt them more because they will never know what went wrong.

Living with integrity and honesty will only make your life 100% easier because you will not feel the guilt, instead you will feel peace.
